These tests are designed in such a way that they perfectly measure all the parameters mentioned above.
Psychometric tests can take many forms and are used as a term for any assessment that tests a person’s cognitive abilities and personality.
The concept of psychometric tests isn’t new. This concept was discovered by Alfred Binet back in 1905.
When and where are psychometric tests used?
- In the recruitment process: These tests are often used by recruiters before hiring employees. Research has shown that these tests are a pretty fair way of letting an employer know whether the candidate is appropriate for the job position. If a candidate scores high in a psychometric test then it is likely that he will perform pretty well in the job too.
- In the career counselling process: Psychometric tests are also conducted during career counselling. These tests are conducted so that the counsellor better understands the candidates. The test helps counsellor in knowing where the student/ candidate’s interests lie, what are his strongest suits, his weaknesses etc. And this test ultimately helps the counsellor in suggesting various career options/ paths to the candidate.
What are psychometric tests like?
These tests are majorly multiple choice questions (MCQs) based. The tests test a candidate in various areas like numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, logical reasoning, situational judgement etc.
